Ride Description

This ride has been going for 20 + years. It starts at the intersection of PCH and Avenue I in Redondo Beach. The name comes from the Winchells donut shop that is now a Starbucks. The ride rolls out of Rivera Village at 8:10 am every Saturday. Rain sometimes cancels. Leaving the village the ride heads up PV drive toward Malaga Cove Plaza and continues around the peninsula making a right turn and dropping down on Paseo Del Mar for a quick loop. The pace will quicken up the first climb out of Malaga Cove Plaza and continues hot until the top of PV Drive East. The ride regroups at the top of PVE, drops down the front side to PV Drive North and loops back to Riveria Village. Extra climbing loops are sometimes added. Almost always fast especially after the turn onto PV Drive East where unofficial king of the mountain bragging rights are on offer for the day. Pack size of 50 - 100 riders is common. The ride is usually smooth due to the fast nature. Good fitness and pack riding skills are a must.
